Mirror?Image Cofacial Coronene Dimers Characterized by CD and CPL Spectroscopy: A Twisted Bilayer Nanographene

Bilayer graphene (BLG), which changes its electronic properties significantly depending on the interplanar distance and rotation angle, is a hot research topic. We successfully synthesized discrete BLG models by bridging two coronenes with 1,8-naphthalene linkage (C2). Owing to large rotational energy, syn- anti-atropisomers of C2 could be isolated. X-ray crystallographic analysis revealed that syn-form (C2S) an AB stacking type anti-form (C2A) chiral twisted bilayer (TBG) type. Therefore, was optically resolved characterized circular dichroism (CD) circularly polarized luminescence (CPL) spectroscopy. The Cotton effect observed in CD spectra at longest absorption wavelength, corresponding bisignate CPL were observed. dissymmetry factors |glum| C2A found 2.0×10?3 435 nm 1.2×10?3 450 nm.
